On September 15, 2024, the Fremont Street Experience in Las Vegas came alive with the traditions of Mexico! Dancers of all levels and ages from various local ballet folklorico groups, united to perform the iconic "Son de la Negra"—a beloved song from the state of Jalisco—in a flashmob celebrating Mexican Independence Day and the start of Hispanic Heritage Month. This beautiful event was made possible thanks to the amazing dancers and the dedicated directors of all the groups who got involved. The performance showcased the talent and passion of our community, with each group contributing to this incredible celebration of Mexico’s rich cultural heritage. A huge thank you to everyone who participated and helped bring this moment to life! ¡Viva México!

Las Vegas Peruvian Cultural Heritage Association, celebrating Peru’s Independence Day with lively cultural performances. Some of our members performed La Tunantada, a traditional Peruvian folk dance, sharing the rich heritage, movements, and storytelling of Peru’s highland regions with the Las Vegas community. This performance highlighted the technical skill, rhythm, and cultural authenticity of traditional dance, while fostering cross-cultural appreciation and community connection.

Nevada Latino Arts and Culture Association proudly hosted a free master workshop for dancers of all levels, featuring Maestro Samuel Alcorta from Corpus Christi, Texas, and Maestro Daniel Olguín-Márquez from Querétaro, Mexico. This workshop focused on the traditions and precise techniques of various regions from the state of San Luis Potosí, emphasizing posture, footwork, and coordination-demonstrating that Folklórico requires the same technical rigor and discipline as any classical form. Dancers from Las Vegas, including both students and teachers, had the opportunity to learn directly from masters, deepening their technical skill and cultural knowledge while celebrating the artistry and heritage of Mexican folk dance.

The Summerlin Patriotic Parade is one of the Las Vegas Valley’s largest and most beloved Fourth of July traditions, celebrating American independence with community spirit, vibrant displays, and family‑friendly fun. Held each July 4th in the Trails Village area of Summerlin, the parade draws tens of thousands of spectators to honor the holiday with floats, giant inflatables, marching bands, military and veteran groups, community organizations, and themed performances. The celebration typically begins with an escort parade around 8:30 AM, followed by the main parade kickoff at 9:00 AM, winding south along Hillpointe Road and Hills Center Drive and ending near Trailwood Drive and Spring Gate Lane. Featuring more than 70 entries and an enthusiastic local audience, the event is free to the public and showcases both patriotic pride and creative community participation-from giant balloon figures and themed floats to performing groups and local nonprofit entries like Nevada Latino Arts and Culture. It’s organized by The Summerlin Council, the nonprofit arm of the Summerlin Community Master Association, and has grown from humble beginnings into a major Independence Day celebration with strong community involvement and visibility.
